Students are introduced to the principles and objectives of a Safety Management System. The module explains how SMS enhances traditional safety approaches by creating a structured and systematic framework to manage risks.

This module outlines the four key components of an SMS—safety policy, safety risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion. Students will learn how each element functions together to maintain a strong safety culture.

Students will develop the skills to identify hazards in aviation operations, using both reactive and proactive methods. Emphasis is placed on recognizing unsafe conditions before they escalate into safety risks.

This module provides practical tools for assessing the likelihood and severity of identified hazards. Students will practice evaluating risks and developing appropriate mitigation strategies to maintain safe operations.
